DISPATCH KOREA is an independent news site run, written and edited by Tim Shorrock, a Washington-based journalist who grew up in Seoul and Tokyo and has been writing about North and South Korea since the 1970s.
I am committed to presenting news and analysis on the Korea peace process, independent of the cold war/imperial framework of the mainstream media and the America-first (and Korea last) dogmatism of the Washington Consensus on East Asia. I was in Singapore for the Trump-Kim summit, and later traveled to Seoul for the third Kim-Moon summit in Pyongyang, and will continue to cover these negotiations to the end. Thanks to all my readers who donated to send me to Singapore and South Korea over the summer.
I spent part of 2017 in Gwangju, South Korea, where I interviewed President Moon Jae-in two days before his historic election. You can read my many posts at The Nation here and my writings for South Korea’s Newstapa/Korea Center for Investigative Journalism here.
